ECR Community Meeting, 16 October 2024
Hello ,
We have our next meeting coming at you all next Wednesday, October 16. Ali Zia from the Biological Data Science Institute will be giving a presentation with the title and abstract below. We hope you all can make it!
The meeting will be held this time in RSSS Room 4.66 at 12:30. We'll have a catered lunch following the presentation around 1pm. To find the room, enter the RSSS building with your back to the Baldessin Parking Station. Go to the elevator bank toward the right and go to the 4th floor. Exit the elevator to you right and Room 4.66 will be past the kitchen.
Please inform us by 11 October 2024 if you plan to attend so we can fix a number for catering. If you react too late, that's ok but please give others first shot at the food. We plan to have a mix of vegan / vegetarian options only but let us know if you need further dietary accommodations beyond that.
Thanks and looking forward to seeing you there!

Title: "Navigating Sparse Data and Weak Signals: Fine-Grain Analysis for Agricultural and Space Applications"
Description:
The scarcity of data and the challenge of analysing fine-grain details and weak signals are common problems across many fields, including agriculture and space exploration. This talk explores advanced techniques for addressing these challenges, using higher-order analysis and deep learning methods. For example, by leveraging fine-grain 3D hyperspectral imaging and deep topological data analysis, we can discover how these methodologies can unlock hidden patterns and provide new insights in data-limited environments. The discussion will highlight applications that span from agricultural sustainability to the complexities of space research.
